About Us
Hello & welcome to Cognito Spa!
I'm Sarah Cogin-Smith and I started out as a salon owner myself, running my own beauty salon for 26 years before shifting my focus exclusively to product creation. One of my passions is creating luxurious, high-quality products that not only delight clients but also boost profitability for salons and spas. I believe treatments should be a sensory experience and something that leaves a lasting impression that keeps clients coming back for more!
My journey into product creation began unexpectedly. After a car accident in 2010 forced me to step away from hands-on beauty therapy, I found myself experimenting with essential oils and natural ingredients. This led to the creation of my first product, the Lemon Sherbet Fizz Body Scrub and Massage Oil, inspired by the nostalgic scent of Refresher sweets. What started as a passion project soon grew into Cognito Spa, a brand dedicated to delivering luxurious, handmade products to salons and spas across the UK.
Beyond products, I now specialise in helping salon and spa owners attract more clients and increase their revenue through creative marketing. From themed promotional guides packed with ready-to-use strategies to lead magnets that help grow client lists, I provide done-for-you marketing assets designed to make promoting treatments effortless.
I also run a thriving Facebook group for salon and spa professionals, where I share tips, strategies, and industry insights. Plus, later in the year I’ll be creating a membership that will deliver exclusive monthly marketing resources, promotional guides, and product discounts, all tailored to help beauty businesses stand out and thrive.
When I'm not formulating skincare products or creating marketing assets, you'll find me enjoying the simple pleasures of life. I live in Preston with my two daughters, two dogs, and four cats. I love all things blue and am rather partial to a nice gin & tonic. Always brimming with business ideas, I'd love to launch my own gin brand one day. I’ve even got the perfect name for it: SarCo Ginsmith!
